This year saw delegates from across the UK attend the 100th Congress of GMB Union in Plymouth. The 3rd GMB Congress was held in Plymouth in 1892.
Due to the calling of a snap-election on Thursday 8 June Congress business was condensed to allow delegates and visitors to return to their constituencies to assist in campaigning. Nevertheless there was still a great number of motions scheduled for debate. Milton Keynes City Branch moved a composite motion on the use of zero hour contracts and our delegate (pictured below speaking from the rostrum) detailed to Congress the negative effect that over-use of these contracts can have on the daily lives of our members and their families.
A more detailed report on Congress will be presented at our AGM, details for which can be accessed here. You can also visit the GMB YouTube page here where a recording of each session of Congress can be found.
