TUC MARCH AND RALLY – BRITAIN NEEDS A PAY RISE – LONDON 18 OCTOBER 2014
Members of the GMB Milton Keynes City Branch joined around 100.000 people in London to send a clear message to our politicians that Britain Needs A Pay Rise
The March was vibrant, colourful and humorous and many GMB flags and vuvuzelas could be seen and heard !!
At the end of the March, in Hyde Park, we listened to speakers from a range of Unions, including the GMB,FBU,NUS,NUT,UNITE,UNISON, PCS and Equity
The TUC’s Frances O’Grady said “After the longest and deepest pay squeeze in recorded history, it’s time to end the lock-out that has kept the vast majority from sharing in the economic recovery. The average worker is £50 a week worse off than in 2007 and 5 million earn less than the living wage. Meanwhile, top Directors now earn 175 times more than the average worker”
The inequalities in our society are now at totally unacceptable levels – roll on 7 May 2015 !!
